Victory for Eoin at Donnington Park
Xcel
Motorsport driver Eoin Murray has added to his tally of
wins in the Elf Clio Renault UK Cup with an emphatic victory
in round 16 of the championship at Donnington Park this
weekend.
Round
15 on Saturday was a highly competitive and robust affair
which saw the Holfeld F1 backed car of Murray being punted
off only to have Murray save certain disaster and re-join
the race to eventually finish in a very credible seventh
place.
Starting
from pole position Eoin Murray backed by Holfeld F1 Components
had to settle for second off the line but snatched the lead
at Redgate on the opening lap and held the lead all the
way to the chequered flag.
The
victory on Sunday, his fourth of the season so far, was
particularly sweet as a major crash during free practice
at the track on Thursday meant that the team had to re-shell
the car overnight to have it on the grid for the weekend.
‘‘The Xcel Motorsport team did a fantastic job
and the car felt really good however I can’t help
but feel that the result on Saturday could have been better
had I not had that accident. I am particularly proud that
I helped my team Xcel Motorsport win the 2003 Constructors
title. The win on Sunday was very sweet and just what we
needed to round out the weekend’’.
‘’I
am currently lying third in the championship standings and
my aim is to finish second. In my current form this is well
within my grasp as we head for Oulton Park in two weeks
time.’’
