5th June 2009 // Murray heads to Jarama

Eoin Murray heads to Jarama Circuit in Spain for rounds 4, 5 & 6 of the Spanish Seat Supercopa Championship this weekend. Driving for the Portuguese team ‘Oasis Motorsport’ Eoin is in fifth position in the Championship after the opening rounds in Valencia in April.

Racing with support from Portuguese companies Louropel and Saraiva & Associados, Murray had a very good start to the season (where but for a disputed penalty he would now be lying 3rd) and he is now looking to build on that. Speaking prior to his departure for the Spanish capital Eoin said “With three races over the weekend, consistency is the key to this one make series and I will be concentrating on taking points from all three races”.

The Jarama Circuit was a previous host to the Spanish F1 Grand Prix. Eoin, who has never been to the circuit before, is looking forward to the challenge of racing on a totally new Circuit, for him. The circuit is 3.4km and with a mixture of sunshine and rain promised in the Madrid area for the weekend it should lead to some very exciting racing. “I have done all my homework on this track and it looks really good with plenty of fast corners. I enjoy learning new tracks and being my second event with my new team I confident we can find a good setup early in the weekend. I’m really looking forward to the challenge this weekend”.

The Spanish Seat Supercopa Championship draws a huge crowd and is hotly contested among 38 drivers from a number of different nations. There is a strong cross over with drivers from the European Seat Championship also competing. The Championship is over six weekends with treble headers each event giving a total of 18 races with substantial cash prizes on offer each weekend.
