22nd July 2008 // Murray confident ahead of Brands Hatch

Brands Hatch provides the venue for rounds seven and eight of the Seat Leon Euroseries when it visits Britain as support for the World Touring Cars this weekend. Irish interest will focus on former ‘Young Irish Driver of the Year’ and BTCC racer Eoin Murray who has switched to the highly competitive one make series for the 2008 season driving the Reynolds Logistics backed Seat Leon.

The Seat Eurocup is proving to be extremely competitive this year with six different winners from the first six races with Eoin Murray taking a win at Valencia in Spain. Only a handful of points separate the top ten contenders for Championship honours and a real tough battle is expected on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in the Kent Countryside.

Problems with brakes on the Reynolds Logistics Seat proved problematic for the young Dubliner at Estoril in Portugal earlier this month but despite this he finished a very credible fifth in race 2. This issue now seems to have been rectified and he hopes to use his circuit knowledge to good use.

Eoin Murray could do with a podium finish at Brands Hatch this weekend to keep his hopes of Championship victory alive. He will be cheered on his way by a large contingent of Irish supporters making their way across the Irish Sea to support him in his quest.

Speaking from Dublin this week in advance of his departure Eoin said “This is an extremely tough series we’re having to fight all the way and after our problems earlier in the season I need a strong result from this weekend. A win would be excellent but a podium would be a welcome guest. I have a lot of experience at this circuit however I also know the pitfalls and know that you need a bit of luck too. I am delighted with so many going over and I hope to put on a good show for them”

SEAT Eurocup races in Brands Hatch will be broadcasted as follows:
Eurosport 2: Saturday 26th July 15.45 race 1 LIVE
Eurosport 2: Sunday 27th July 17.30 repeat race 2
