Eoin Murray hopes to get his Seat Leon Eurocup championship back on track for rounds 5 & 6 this weekend at Estoril in Portugal. Despite setting the pace around the streets of Pau, Murray scored no points for rounds 3 & 4 after being punted into the barriers. But his eleven points scored from Spain still leaves him in a strong sixth position and only 8 points away from the championship lead.
Although the Portuguese track is a new track for Eoin and his team PRS he is still confident of a good performance for the coming weekend. The former European Alfa Champion commented “I enjoy learning new tracks but we are fully aware that we must start the first session with a good setup. These cars have proven to be quite difficult to setup for each track and with only two thirty minute practice sessions before qualifying, starting with a fast car will be the key to a successful weekend.”
Eoin hopes to be one of the six drives to be given the prize to drive for Seat Sport in the World Touring Car Championship. If he scores the most points at Estoril he will have the opportunity to race in the WTCC at brands hatch in a fortnight’s time.
The Reynolds Logistics backed driver comments “There are four rounds remaining in the Seat Leon Eurocup so I have four opportunities to win the fully funded drive in the WTCC. I know all the remaining tracks left in our championship so I am quietly confident of winning this prize before the end of the season. But to win the drive at Brands Hatch which would be my local event would be fantastic. I know I will have a lot of supporters travelling to that event”.
