Eoin Murray heads to Valencia in Spain, the scene for his Championship win in the European Alfa Championship in 2005, this weekend to launch his challenge on the Seat Leon Eurocup.

Having spent the last two years campaigning his Alfa Romeo 156 in the British Touring Car Championship Eoin has made the switch for the 2008 season to the Seat Leon Eurocup.

Running with his Championship winning team PRS Group, based in Italy and with sponsorship from his long-term sponsor Reynolds Logistics & Lubefreight Eoin is confident of a strong showing in this one make series.

Speaking before his departure to Valencia Eoin said ’’I did a private day with my team in Italy two weeks ago and everything went well. I am confident of the team and my engineer and I love the car. We believe we have a very strong package but it is a bit of an unknown until we compete for the first time this weekend and see the opposition.’’

The Seat Leon Eurocup is heavily backed by Seat Europe and will run as support to the WTCC series. The Seat Leon Eurocup has attracted the cream of young drivers from around the world. Seat Europe is providing a full works drive in a WTCC Seat in the next round of the championship for the driver who wins their round of the Seat Leon Eurocup. The series will be held over six double header weekends with points from five rounds to count so allowing for a Championship contender avail of the WTCC drive while still not jeopardising their Eurocup aspirations.

Entering the Seat Eurocup Eoin has no doubts about where he wants to go. “I am focusing on winning a fully funded WTCC drive with Seat where I can showcase my talent at the very top level of Touring Car racing. Hopefully I can do this and still have a chance of winning the Eurocup.”
