27th July 2005 // Championship Resumes At Spa

The European Alfa Romeo Championship resumes this weekend with round seven at the world famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young driver of the year Eoin Murray is currently five points ahead in the championship and is hoping to extend this lead over the weekend.

Eoin, who is supported by Holfeld F1 Components & Alfa Romeo Ireland has been on the podium at all six rounds so far this year & is anxious to get back behind the wheel after a two month summer break. "I am really looking forward to this race, I am anxious to consolidate my position in the championship. I did not finish the race last year as two other competitors crashed and took me out with them so I did not have as much running here last year as I would have liked I am working to take maximum points from Spa at the weekend"

The European Alfa Romeo Championship is a popular part of the support package for the World Touring Cars and is also supporting the famous Spa 24 Hour race this weekend. The Spa 24 Hour attracts crowds of up to 100,000 over the weekend and this together with saturation television coverage worldwide makes this an extremely important venue for the young Dublin driver to showcase his talents.

Eoin races the Alfa Romeo 147 GTA which produces 220BHP and is driven through a six speed sequential gearbox achieving speeds of over 140 miles per hour on track.

Eoin is racing in the 2005 championship with additional backing from Carnegie Sand & Gravel, GaryAron Homes, Motorsport Ireland and Bill Griffin Motors.
