18th July 2007 // Up-beat Murray puts Donington behind him.

The 2007 season will not go down as a highlight in the career of BTCC racer Eoin Murray. Following a difficult opening to the season Eoin had to endure a series of niggling problems again this weekend at Donington Park.

The arguscarhire.com backed driver had to endure a series of setbacks right from the outset, a clutch problem meant he could not partake in the first free practice session, in session two he experienced drive shaft problems and could only manage two laps. Despite the lack of running time on the day Eoin managed to qualify as the quickest the Alfa in 14th position in a time of 1.146 which is well outside his best for the circuit.

Starting from 14th position for race one Murray had a strong run despite the poor conditions and he eventually finished in a credible 11 place. The gremlins again returned for race two and forced him to retire after just two laps. A broken tri-axel on the green flag lap meant he could not start in race three and put paid to his weekend.

A philosophical Murray commented afterwards ‘’ the season is a huge disappointment to me I continue to go into the weekend with a positive attitude however the lack of testing and constant niggling mechanical problems are very frustrating. I am not easily beaten and I am determined to continue in the championship and am already making plans for Snetterton in two weeks time’’
