30th May 2007 // Murray optimistic ahead of Croft

Following a short lay-off, the British Touring Car Championship resumes at Croft this weekend for rounds 10, 11 & 12. The arguscarhire.com driver Eoin Murray in the Alfa Romeo 156 will be aiming for a strong showing this weekend. A solid drive in the first of the triple headers at the last meeting at Thruxton saw Eoin finish 9th with an engine lacking performance which eventually ended his weekend at the beginning of race 2.

The Alfa Romeo 156 backed by Reynolds logistics has a new engine in the intervening period and both Eoin and team Quest are looking forward with some optimism to the trip to Croft. “Thruxton was a big disappointment because everyone expected the Alfa to suit the fast Thruxton circuit but when we saw the speed trap figures at the beginning of the weekend we began to worry. I am sure we will show a better performance in Croft this weekend.”

A good race setup is crucial around the demanding 2.1 mile circuit which has a mix of very fast flowing corners and an extremely tight complex. Eoin and his team intend to try a new radical setup hoping to boost their performance this weekend.

Speaking in advance of his trip to Croft, Eoin, said “Myself and my team Quest have been working really hard on achieving the perfect setup for this weekend. We have also been speaking to N Technology (Alfa World Touring Car Team) looking for ways to improve the car over a race distance. We are taking a bit of a gamble and going for something a little unknown to us with the car. I think it is worth the risk!’’
