With an excellent showing at Brands Hatch two weeks ago Eoin Murray’s Championship challenge is firmly on course following a brace of third places at the Kent circuit. He now lies second in the Seat Leon Eurocup series with only five points separating himself and Frenchman Michael Rossi.

Always a strong contender at Brands Hatch Murray had to be content with third place in the Sunday race following a major crash by Francisco Carvalho, which meant that the race was red flagged with only six laps completed, five of which were behind the safety car because of an earlier incident involving Alexey Dudukalo. Many expected Murray to challenge for top honours had the race run full distance however a sanguine Murray commented “I’ve been on the podium the last 3 races and subsequently scored more points than anyone but we can’t help thinking we could have done even better at Brands considering our pace but that’s racing you just never know!”

The next two rounds are this weekend at Bruno in the Czech Republic. With only 5 points separating the top two in the championship it is sure to be a ‘hum dinger’ and could well prove to be crucial as the championship moves into the second half of the season. Although the Oasis Motorsport driver, supported by Louropel & Saraiva, has not raced at Brno previously Eoin is looking forward to the fast flowing corners and high speed circuit which will suit his car set up and his driving style. “I’m looking forward to Bruno I have heard some great things about the circuit. For me, this weekend is not about winning races but collecting as many championship points as possible. Every point will be valuable in a series as closely fought as this & I want to be there challenging right to the finish”
