13th October 2009 // Jerez crucial to Championship Prospects

Jerez in Spain is the venue for rounds 13, 14 & 15 of the Seat Leon Supercopa. Irish driver Eoin Murray driving for the Oasis team is looking forward to a strong weekend to bolster his championship standings ahead of the final round in Catalunya in November. Eoin who is currently joint third in the championship needs a good result this weekend if he is to have a realistic chance of keeping his championship prospects alive.

Commenting from home before his departure to Spain Eoin said “This championship has been a roller coaster ride for us, being a new team this year, but I am happy with our achievements so far. We will have to work very hard to get a series of strong results this weekend to give a reasonable prospect of challenging for the championship at the final round in Catalunya in three weeks time. We always knew that the championship would remain in the melting pot right to the end. We are aiming to keep it exactly that way with a strong performance this weekend”.

Built in 1985 and used to host the F1 grand Prix the Circuit at Jerez covers 4.4 Km. Although Eoin has not previously raced at this Circuit he feels confident in his ability to learn new tracks very quickly. The Friday test session will be a very busy one for Eoin and Team Oasis as they try to work out a good set-up on the car for the weekend.

Qualifying takes place on Saturday morning with two races, back to back, on Saturday and the feature race on Sunday. You can follow Eoin’s progress over the weekend, and get more details on his season by logging on to his new-look website – www.eoinmurray.com
