8th September 2009 // Albacete night race

This weekend Eoin Murray will contest rounds 10, 11 & 12 of the Seat Leon Supercopa at the fourth event in Albacete, Spain. Eoin will be aiming to continue his impressive winning streak, this season, having won at the previous two events at Jarama & Portimão.

The Albacete event will be particularly challenging as the feature race is a ‘Night Race’. Eoin is really looking forward to the event having once previously competed in a night race at Silverstone in the Ford Fiesta Championship 8 years ago. The first Free practice session is at midnight on Thursday to give the drivers a chance to get acquainted to the conditions.

“It has been a long time since I raced in the dark but I remember I really enjoyed it. It’s a great experience and something a lot different to a daylight race. Everything is more difficult to judge as you really have to rely on your headlights to show you the way! I am looking forward to the first practice session to sample the track for the first time and see how well the track will be lit up.

At the midway stage in the season Eoin currently lies in fourth position in the championship and just 12 points behind the leader Spanish driver Marc Carol. With 43 points on offer over this weekend, the aim for the former European Alfa Romeo champion will be to score consistently in all three races.

Commenting on his chances for the weekend Eoin said: “This championship is incredibly close so I’m really enjoying the competiveness. With three races during each weekend the championship table can change very quickly so I’m hoping I can stay in the hunt until the final round.”
