The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is the setting for rounds 7,8 & 9 of the Spanish Seat Supercopa Championship as it joins up with the Le Mans series for what promises to be a wonderful weekends racing at the Portuguese holiday resort of Portimão. All eyes are on Irish driver Eoin Murray, following his successful victory at Jarama in Spain at the last round. Eoin is currently lying 2nd in the standings just 14 points adrift of Spanish driver Marc Carol and with a maximum of 43 points on offer over the three races Eoin with be aiming to reduce the championship gap at the top of the points table.
Eoin has had a shakedown test at the Circuit this week but despite limited running with the car he declares it one of the best tracks he has raced on with very fast flowing corners and blind crests and is really looking forward to the race weekend.
The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is 4.692Km long and was completed in October 2008 at a reputed cost of €195 Million. It is a superb venue, which includes Karting track, Technology Park, five star hotel, sports complex and apartments.
Commenting on his chances for the weekend Eoin said, “With the high temperatures here, the key will be to find a race set up that is easy on the front tyres. We are working really hard to give me the best possible opportunity to score some more valuable championship points this weekend.” |
