2nd September 2005 // Murray gets the job done in Germany

Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young driver of the year Eoin Murray continues to lead the European Alfa Romeo Championship following rounds 8 & 9 in Oschersleben this weekend. It was a tough test for the young Irish driver as he had never been to the circuit before and was defending a good Championship lead.

Eoin, in the Alfa Romeo Ireland backed car, qualified in fourth place for race one and occupied fifth place on the grid for race two. He succeeded in annexing the third step on the podium behind championship rival Maurizio Campani in race one and finished in fourth place in race two. Strong tactical drives in both races meant he completed the weekend with a 29 point advantage going into the final two rounds.

Commenting afterwards the Holfeld F1 Components backed driver said "This was always going to be a difficult weekend for me coming here defending a good championship lead I had to be extremely careful and continue to think in terms of the Championship. I did have a number of opportunities particularly during the first race but my task for the weekend was to drive conservatively and maintain the lead in the championship with only two rounds left."

Eoin now heads to Valencia in Spain for the final two rounds of the championship on the 1st & 2nd of October "I am really looking forward to Valencia I went very well there last year and I am expecting a strong result there again this year. The team (PSR Group) is very focused and fully committed to helping me achieve my goal. Personally I cant wait."
